Building a home for authenticity.
Lewis & Clark is a private college in Portland, Oregon, that empowers students to engage with the world as it is to shape it into what it could be. I was brought on as Creative Director and a Lead Designer to steer the creative vision, working hand in hand with a brand strategist to craft an identity informed by a rigorous phase of qualitative and quantitative research.
That research revealed the need for a system that felt less like a traditional institution and more like a purpose-driven community. “Home” became the visual motif, a framework rooted in the lush distinctiveness of the Pacific Northwest. We developed a comprehensive design system where elements like structural grids, custom iconography, and expressive typography serve as key drivers of the creative direction. This framework allows the brand to push the boundaries of the higher education space with a fresh, purposeful perspective, ensuring every application feels distinct yet unmistakably grounded in place.
